Market Mechanics and Trading Considerations

When a company completes its IPO, its shares transition from the primary offering process into secondary market trading on a public exchange. The opening price is determined through exchange auction mechanisms based on supply and demand at the start of trading.

Following this transition, newly listed securities may begin trading once the opening auction is complete and the security is made available for continuous trading on the exchange. Due to standard exchange procedures and prevailing market conditions, execution timing and opening prices are not guaranteed and may vary from expectations around the market open; therefore the firm is only accepting limit orders until the first print on the Nasdaq.

Newly listed securities, including IPOs on their first day of trading, may experience:

  • Elevated price volatility during initial trading
  • Wider bid-ask spreads
  • Rapid changes in liquidity
  • Temporary trading pauses or halts in certain market conditions

These conditions are common during the early price discovery phase and may change as trading activity develops.

Market participants should also be aware that early trading activity may not reflect longer-term valuation or performance, as pricing is determined in real time by supply and demand.

Access to Trading

As a Nasdaq member broker-dealer, Lime Trading Corp provides access to securities listed on Nasdaq and other major U.S. exchanges as well as other market centers and liquidity providers. • Applicable regulatory and exchange requirements
  • Normal market conditions and liquidity

Order execution at or near the opening price is not guaranteed and may be subject to exchange procedures, liquidity conditions, and system availability. Market orders will only be accepted after the commencement of trading.
